Cat Stories....

Cats are amazing animals, and this one is no exception. An abandoned cat found in the basement of a hospital, who, after eating to survive, became so overweight that he couldn’t even walk! Let’s quickly dive into the details of The Story of Kroshik, the 37lb Cat.
An orange cat (of course it had to be, hehe) living in the basement of a hospital in Russia was so overweight that he couldn’t walk when rescuers found him. But it wasn’t his fault; he had been abandoned years ago. Like any cat, he managed to win the affection and protection of the hospital staff, who, with the best intentions, fed him cookies and soup. It seems that everyone at the hospital was feeding him, because he managed to reach an impressive 37 pounds (17 kg), which is the average weight of a four-year-old child.
This adorable and chubby cat was put on a diet and sent to an animal shelter, where they are making sure he sticks to it, along with a series of exercises to help him lose that belly. Kroshik, or Crumbs in English, had apparently been abandoned some time ago and found his way into the basement of the hospital in Perm, a city near the Ural Mountains, where he went from the streets to extreme abundance.
We know Kroshik isn’t the only case of overweight cats in the world. In England, a while ago, there was a cat so fat that his owners were fined for endangering the feline’s life. Sure, they look cute and even funny, but being that overweight is a serious health risk and means fewer years with us. Anyone who loves cats knows that we want them to live as long as possible. A little chubby is fine, but being this obese is dangerous for our cats.
Back to our dear Kroshik, who, by the way, looks a lot like Garfield (another chubby but adorable cat). He had a problem when he was with the vets—they couldn’t perform an ultrasound because of his thick layers of fat. But as I mentioned, he’s already been put on a strict cat diet and a treadmill exercise regimen to lose weight. Poor Kroshik has the goal of losing about 70% of his body weight to reach his ideal weight of around 9.9 pounds (4.5 kg), according to the British newspaper The Sun. And let me repeat, being this fat isn’t funny—it’s dangerous.

Well, despite the best intentions of the hospital staff, the beautiful Kroshik really did pack on a lot of extra pounds. The good news is that in the coming months, he’ll likely lose all that extra belly, along with receiving the love every cat deserves. To the people who abandoned this precious feline, I wish you nothing good. Those of us who love cats know that they think they’re all-powerful and immortal, but they’re just little balls of fur with only one life, even though it sometimes seems like they have all nine. In any case, cats are beautiful and perfect. See you later!
